Huntley Community Radio now broadcasting on 101.5 FM

FCC grants approval to WHRU-LP to begin broadcasting

HUNTLEY, ILL – After nearly four years of dreaming, conceptualizing, taking notes on napkins, creating a format, hiring volunteers, fundraising, erecting the antenna and connecting a community, Huntley Community Radio is now officially on 101.5 FM as well as continuing to stream over the Internet at huntleyradio.com.

On Oct. 14, 2014 the Federal Communications Commission approved our Low Power FM (LP-FM) license making us the first Low Power station in the State of Illinois with FCC approval since 2006.

HCR has been broadcasting since September 2012. The first shows aired on the website and since then, the station has grown to over 30 programs and more than 60 volunteers.

Huntley Community Radio’s mission is to Keep Huntley Informed and Connected. By being available on FM radio, now all residents of the area will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in that mission.

Besides programming geared for young children to seniors and everyone in between, Huntley Community Radio has served as a radio/media training and learning opportunity for elementary, high school and college students, middle-aged adults and seniors who have all collaborated to make this unique community radio station possible.

Our robust, easy-to-use website allows you to easily identify programming you may be interested in, listen live, learn more about the hosts, make a donation to the station and contact the appropriate people if you are interested in volunteering your time.

As the primary media outlet for the Huntley Community, people can expect to find all things Huntley and related communities.

The team at Huntley Community Radio is very excited to welcome the entire community. On Friday, October 31, we will be hosting The Huntley Community Radio 101.5 FM Halloween Bash, an Open House at The Al Litwin Studios  of Huntley Community Radio – 11419 Illinois 47 in Huntley from 6:00-8:30 to help celebrate our launch on 101.5 FM.
