HCR Status Report 8/10

  • The Huntley Patch and TCF Bank have become Gold Level Sponsors of HCR.
  • Two HCR Ice Cream Socials were held in July to introduce community residents and prospective HCR volunteers to Huntley Community Radio. Attendees mingled informally with HCR directors and volunteers, learned about HCR’s mission and plans, and received a tour of HCR’s office space. Mimi Geiger won the drawing of an airplane ride for two over Huntley and the surrounding communities.
  • On Monday, July 16, HCR held its first Culver of Huntley “Scoopie Night” fundraiser. Diners were entertained by a quartet from the Sun City Sun-Tones Barbershop Harmony ensemble. Culvers generously donated 10% of its gross sales received during the fundraiser.
  • Thirty-eight Huntley area residents participated in the first HCR Volunteer training class held on Sunday, July 29.
  • A repeat of the HCR Volunteer training class will be held on Monday, August 20, from 7:00pm – 10:00pm in the Deicke Park Building Social Hall at 11419 IL Route 47 in Huntley. Anyone who is interested in attending this compulsory volunteer training class should contact Dorothy Litwin at Dorothy.Litwin@huntleyradio.org with name and phone number to register for the class.
  • HCR Broadcasters Training will be held on Wednesday, August 29, from 7:00pm – 10:00pm in the Deicke Park Building Social Hall in Huntley. All hosts, announcers, voiceover specialists, and producers need to attend this class.
  • HCR donation cans have been placed in retail businesses throughout the Huntley area. Please donate your small bills and change by placing them in these cans. To retain its 501(c)(3) designation as a charitable organization, HCR must receive at least one-third of its funding through small donations.
  • HCR studio and office equipment will be purchased, delivered, installed, configured and tested in the next five weeks, in time for HCR to being its live broadcasts during the week of September 24.
  • HCR will host an “open house” of its studio and office space that coincides with Huntley Fall Fest during the weekend of August 28 – 30.
